Just a pause from the hectic months of transitioning my 18 year old son from his Senior year in high school to the beginning of his first year in college. To say that the past 18 months have been hectic is an understatement. Almost one year ago, I met Ryan Fleming, my advisor at Eagle Financial Solutions, at a baseball showcase in Lexington, KY. He had a low-key approach of addressing a group of “parent hopefuls” and letting us know what we would be looking at in terms of making the transition from the parent of a high school student to a parent of a student about to attend college. I can’t say there was any one thing he said that caught my attention but when he finished his 15 minute talk, I had this uneasy feeling that the boat was pulling away from the dock and I was still holding on to the rope.
It was probably another month before Ryan and I talked again. I spent some time reviewing some material from Ryan and looking at my plans for the immediate present and long term future. Through the guidance of Ryan, the Eagle Financial Solutions staff and their association with the College Planning Network, I now feel like I’m still holding the rope but I‘m on the boat helping to steer it to where I want it to go. I would definitely recommend that you talk with Ryan and look at an approach to financial comfort and security that you may not have thought about. We are all good at something; that’s why we do what we do. He’s good at getting you to take a good realistic look at your financial ship and giving you sound advice on where your ship is headed and how to prepare for the uncertain storm that always arise.
